Dr. Joseph Franzese Explains CoolSculpting Elite

Blog

Hi, my name is Dr. Joseph Franzese. For more than a decade, I’ve worked to ensure that residents in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the surrounding areas have access to medical treatments that support the whole body. My medical facility utilizes some of the area’s most cutting-edge technologies to ensure the highest level of success possible.

Among those technologies in CoolScuplting Elite, a technology that helps eliminate fat in 9 areas of the body:

  • Under the chin
  • Jawline areas
  • Thighs
  • Abdomen
  • Flanks
  • Bra fat
  • Back fat
  • Underneath the buttocks
  • Upper arms.

What is CoolSculpting® Elite?

CoolSculpting was the first FDA-cleared body contouring technology. This non-invasive procedure can eliminate 20-25% of treated fat cells and is known for reducing fat in the body’s most stubborn areas. CoolSculpting Elite is the second generation of this amazing technology, and it can now freeze twice the stubborn fat at one time, thanks to new dual applicators.

How Does CoolSculpting Elite Work?

In the most simplistic of terms, CoolSculpting Elite freezes and kills fat cells using a unique process called cryolipolysis. The team at Cleveland Clinic explains the cryolipolysis process:

“Cryolipolysis, commonly referred to as fat freezing, is a nonsurgical fat reduction procedure that uses cold temperature to reduce fat deposits in certain areas of the body. The procedure is designed to reduce localized fat deposits or bulges that do not respond to diet and exercise.”

Is Coolsculpting Elite Able To Treat Everyone?

While CoolSculpting Elite is certainly a fat-reduction treatment for men and women, it’s not necessarily the right treatment for all patients. The process is meant to target pockets of stubborn fat specifically. Patients typically seek out this treatment because they have attempted to remove fat in problem areas with little or no success.

While the procedure can help patients achieve their desired results, it is not meant to replace any weight loss program or procedure.

Will I have Any Downtime After The CoolSculpting Procedure?

CoolSculpting is an outpatient procedure that will quickly get you back to normal activities. Many patients return to work the same day and maintain normal activities immediately after the procedure.

Patients may feel some localized pain following the procedure, and I recommend listening to your body if more rest feels necessary.

The ability to return to normal activities so quickly is largely thanks to CoolSculpting treatment requiring no needles and no surgery.

What Should I Expect During My CoolSculpting Elite Procedure?

An applicator is placed directly on the treatment area. Patients feel a slight sucking sensation as the applicator adheres to their bodies. The device will then begin to cool. The experience for each patient will vary, with patients reporting one or several of the following sensations: Tugging, pulling, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping.

Once the area becomes numb, the sensations I noted above tend to subside.

When the procedure is complete, it’s not incoming to notice some temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity, and sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental or submandibular area treatment.

How Long Will My CoolSculpting Elite Procedure Take?

A single treatment for one area of the body takes about 35 minutes to complete. Some patients ask to have several problem areas targeted, adding additional time to the procedure.

Will I See Immediate Results From CoolSculpting Elite?

Typically the full results of the procedure will present themselves between 1 and 3 months. Remember that some patients will retire multiple visits to achieve their desired results. The time it takes to achieve your personal fat loss goals partially depends on what you expect to see in terms of results and how many visits you are willing and able to take on the road to achieving your goals.
